With much gratitude, Saturday September 18, the Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos Society gathered at the Empress Banquets for their annual September Luncheon and Fundraiser. It marked the return of the first in person gathering in more than eighteen months as we reunited three hundred strong in sisterhood to support the work and mission of Philoptochos. We were honored to have in attendance His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael and His Grace Bishop Timothy of Hexamilion, Chancellor.
The theme “The Essence of Philotimo” encompassed both the historical celebration of the 200 years of freedom for our Ancestors and the heart and mission of Philoptochos. Through the generous support of our donors and our Philoptochos members, beneficiaries of this year’s luncheon are the Metropolis Philoptochos Philanthropy Fund, The St. Iakovos Retreat Center, WINGS Program – Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence and the Philoptochos Philanthropic endeavors. We were also delighted to collect all the floral centerpieces at the end of the luncheon and deliver them to the residents of the Greek American Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
