His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago

Spiritual Advisor

His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago is the second metropolitan to preside over the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, consisting of 58 parishes and two monastic communities in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as well as northern Indiana and southeastern Missouri. He was unanimously elected Metropolitan of Chicago, succeeding His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of blessed memory, by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on February 7, 2018. He was later ordained a Bishop in the Holy Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New York, on March 17, and was enthroned as Metropolitan of Chicago in the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of Chicago on March 24.

His Grace Bishop Timothy of Hexamillion

Spiritual Advisor

His Grace Bishop Timothy (Bakakos) of Hexamilion, son of the late Demosthenes and late Antonia Bakakos, was born in Chicago, Illinois in October of 1952, and is the second of four sons. Along with his siblings, His Grace was raised and spent his childhood and teen years at the Assumption (Panagia) Church of Chicago, where he attended the Sunday Church School and Greek School programs, as well as serving as an altar boy and participating in the youth programs of the parish. His Grace is a product of the Chicago Public School System, where he attended Lane Technical High School for three years before moving with his family to Park Ridge, finally completing high school at Maine Township High School South.

President

Kathleen Katrakis currently serves as the President of the Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos Board, holding multiple board positions over the past decade. She is the only child of the late John & Bertha Pappas.  She obtained her B.S. degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University and has a background in managerial roles, previously working at So-Fabrics and NUVEEN. Married to John Katrakis, they have two grown children, Christopher and Caroline. Kathy’s involvement in church life began at SS. Constantine and Helen Church in Palos Hills, where she participated in various activities. Later, she and John attended St. Andrew’s in Chicago before settling in Barrington and becoming active members of St. Sophia Church in Elgin for over 30 years. Kathy has been engaged in numerous church ministries, including serving as President of the Philoptochos chapter, Sunday School, GOYA, YAL & Fanari. Additionally, she has contributed significantly to her children’s schools and community organizations, demonstrating her dedication to helping others.
